Inside My Space

We recently finished my new craft room (which is doing double-duty as my boys' playroom) and today I want to share some photos of my new space.  My goal was to post late last week, but we had some unexpected family "stuff" come up so I'm a few days late.

I also want to let you know that I'm extending the deadline for my Amy Tangerine giveaway to next Sunday, June 29!

But back to my craft space...

The photo above is the view when you walk into the room.  As you can see, I need curtains for the windows (I'm still looking) and I need to hang some wall art (my boys are deciding between a few prints).

Just past the television is a wrought iron stand that holds all my wood-mounted stamps:

Skipping past the closet door for a moment, you then come to my paper storage.  I've had these Cropper Hopper paper holders for years.  I keep all my patterned paper sorted by manufacturer, save holiday prints, which are separated by holiday.

Next up is my desk and Expedit storage system.  I've got extra Snap binders, magazines, unmounted rubber stamps, card stock, 6x6 paper pads, Project Life cards, kits, paper trimmers, and a few other odds and ends in that storage unit. I love that thing!

On my desk, I have adhesive, journaling pens and markers, and my scissors.  I have a basket on the right side of the desk with a few random embellishments that I'm hoping to use soon.

Now, I'll go back to the closet, which is behind the desk.  In the closet I put three more storage pieces.  The brown piece on the right stores everything from stickers to washi tape to journaling cards to glitter.  Once I'm sure I like the order, I'll label all the drawers.

The red piece has four drawers and it holds my die-cutting accessories as well as some punches and embossing supplies.

The small red piece holds tiny embellishments, like sequins and wood veneer pieces.

The closet shelf holds some unfinished wood pieces and chipboard albums, as well as a couple home decor pieces that are in-progress.

Here's a peek inside one of the drawers in the brown piece.

Leaving the closet, I have this dresser on the opposite side of my desk.  I want to refinish this, but I'm still debating if I want to keep it stained or paint it.  Anyone have a suggestion for me?

Inside the dresser, I have my fabric, stamp pads, mists, and some random embellishments + extra adhesive.

Continuing the circle (of sorts), next to my desk I have this small bookcase from Target.  In real life, it's yellow, and not this weird neon-yellow/green color.  It holds some other in-progress projects.  As I moved rooms, I found several of these projects that I'd forgotten about...it's now my mission to get them completed!

On the other side of the room (next to my boys' storage), I have one last piece.  This holds my embellishments by manufacturer, my clear stamps, photos, some seasonal embellishments, and my Simons Says Stamp kits that I haven't un-kitted yet.  The magazine holders house my boys' Lego instruction booklets.

And that is my new space.  It's got great light, and I'm excited to get crafting in there!

Before I leave, I wanted to share my little crafting buddy:

I grabbed this pet bed on clearance at Target, and my cats (we have three) take turns napping in there.  This is Gracie, and she likes to "supervise" while I'm creating.  :)

Well, that's it for today.  I'll be back next week with the winner of my giveaway!

Another Giveaway!

Happy Friday Nesters!  Last month, I chronicled my layout-a-day progress.  This month, my focus has been on a different project.  In between Vacation Bible School and finishing up our homeschool-year, my husband and I have been in the middle of some much-needed home improvements.  Due to allergies, we made the decision to rip up all the carpeting in our home and replace it with wood laminate flooring.  Thankfully, this is limited to the bedrooms and two small hallways.  However, my husband is known for being frugal, so we're doing all the work ourselves.

We started with the front bedroom, which will become my new craft room + my boys' playroom (currently, they'll bring toys in when I'm crafting so we figured why not try this configuration).

I'm hoping to start moving in tonight or tomorrow.  Right now, the new space is pretty bare.  My boys are ones to prioritize, so the first thing in the room is the tv they just got from my parents.  :)  The tv stand is from Target, and it's really cute in person!

Also, the wall color is not quite so bright in person.  It's Benjamin Moore's Rosemary Green.  When I first put up a swatch, my husband thought I was going to paint the room neon green...it's more of an apple green in person.  It's a happy color.

Right now, I'm in the middle of a major purge as I get ready to move in to the new space.  This is just a peek of what my craft room looks like right now:

That big box in the foreground of the picture is housing some of what I'm getting rid of...once I'm finished, be on the lookout for a destash giveaway here at the Nest.

For now, though, I have a small Amy Tangerine giveaway.  To enter, all you have to do is comment here on the blog with the type of posts that you'd like to see more of here at the Nest.  Do you like sketches, or challenges, or how-to videos, or process videos, or product picks, or something else entirely?  I'd really love to know, and it will help us as we plan future posts.  The giveaway will be open through next Sunday, June 22.  I'll post the randomly-chosen winner on Monday, June 23.

Before I go, I want to mention that Lain Ehmann is running a Father's Day special today on Jennifer Gallacher's "The Boys Are Back in Town" class from True Scrap 4.  It's only $8.95 through midnight tonight!

Happy Friday!

I hope you're all having a wonderful Friday and that you have a fun weekend planned.

Have you seen Mary Jo's giveaway???  You can see her post right here.  Be sure to check it out (if you haven't already) and see what you need to do to be in the running for this great prize.

Are you getting ready for Father's Day?  It's Sunday, June 15th and I've made a couple of cards for "my guys".  Thought I'd share them with you today.

I made this one for my husband.  Have you seen the DCWV burlap paper stacks?

I just love these 6" x 6" papers and used one of the sheets on my card.  The image is from Eureka Stamps.  It's digi 8109.

Here's a close-up photograph of the stamp.

One more close-up of the cute banner, wooden gear and one of the jute bows.

Here's another card I made.  I also used a Eureka Stamps image ~ 9001.

I just love the script on this digital stamp.  I distressed the patterned paper and the stamp.  I love using corrugated paper (cardboard) and I really inked this piece up.  I added the buttons for a finished look.

Thanks for stopping by today and again, don't forget about Mary Jo's awesome giveaway!  I'll be doing a giveaway myself in the next couple of weeks.

I Did It!

I am so excited - I made it through the Layout-a-Day challenge!  Today, I'm going to share my last few pages.

Before I begin, though, if you missed my previous layouts from the month, you can see them here, here, here, here, and here.

On the 29th, our prompt was about favorite foods.  I thought this story about our sundae from Winnie-the-Pooh would be a perfect fit:

I have absolutely loved these little wooden alphas + numbers from Studio Calico:

For the next day, the prompt had to do with our secret place (like a treehouse or such).  I was really having trouble with it because I didn't have anything like that when I was younger (and neither do my boys).  My 10-year-old asked what the prompt was and I told him it was about a secret place, a place that was special and makes you happy. Without hesitation, he replied, "Then you should make a page about Daddy." So I did. :)

As you can tell, this layout goes along with the previous one.  This is moments after getting the sundae (and just before my boys went at it!).

These sequins were actually from a Halloween pack, but the yellow was just perfect for this layout.

And, finally, the last day.  The prompt was about a favorite vacation.  This one was a no-brainer.  :)

I'm in the midst of scrapbooking photos from two Disney trips.  The ones from last September are going in a regular scrapbook, and the ones from this spring are going in a Snap album.  For the last day of LOAD, I decided to make the cover page for the September pictures.  (And I got totally lucky with the fireworks shot!)

Here is the finished stack of layouts:

I'm so proud of them, they're still sitting out.  Maybe they'll make it into their albums by the end of the month.  ;)

The next public LOAD is February 2015.  Anyone want to join me?

P.S.  I'm part of an affiliate program for Lain's True Scrap and True Stamp events...any money earned will pay for giveaways on CraftYourNest (so it's a win-win in my book).  Yesterday, she opened up a great deal for True Stamp 2014.  You can get all six classes for $39 with the code "SAVEBIG".  For more details, click here.
